What Is the Extraction Reversal Process?
The primary objective of an extraction reversal is to create more space in the mouth for the tongue to properly rest and to ensure the jaw is in the proper position. This can be accomplished in several ways, depending on the severity of your condition. Typically, we will begin by bringing the front teeth forward with an appliance, then widen the jaws with either orthodontic or skeletal expanders, to allow enough space for the tongue to rest properly on the roof of the mouth. Also, if the lower jaw is pushed too far back, the TMJ joint can be compromised, in a condition called "mandibular entrapment." When this condition is present, we will often see great results after bringing the front teeth forward. Extraction reversal causes spaces to be opened up between teeth; these can be filled in, if desired, with composite fillings or implants for an excellent functional and cosmetic result.

I took my young boys to Life dental & Orthodontics because they were airway focused and that was really important for a family! We were mostly helped with Katie the RDA and she was so great with the boys made everything fun and super patient with them. I also really appreciated how in-depth Dr. Hockel explained everything to myself and our kids. My boys can get easily overwhelmed and he had such gentle and calm energy throughout the whole process!
