How Is Nitrous Oxide Sedation Administered?
Before the procedure begins, the nitrous oxide gas will be administered through a mask. As you inhale the gas, you will quickly begin to feel relaxed. A member of our team will observe your response to the gas, as well as your vitals, and adjust the volume as needed throughout the procedure. You may notice a tingling sensation in your outer extremities and a feeling of warmth, euphoria, or well-being as the gas kicks in. Nitrous oxide is normally used in conjunction with a local anesthetic, like lidocaine, to deaden sensation. When the procedure is complete, the gas will be shut off, and the effects will begin to fade immediately.

I took my young boys to Life dental & Orthodontics because they were airway focused and that was really important for a family! We were mostly helped with Katie the RDA and she was so great with the boys made everything fun and super patient with them. I also really appreciated how in-depth Dr. Hockel explained everything to myself and our kids. My boys can get easily overwhelmed and he had such gentle and calm energy throughout the whole process! I really appreciated that! Highly recommend this team! :) Jessie at the front desk is also super helpful and sweet!
