Contact UsWhat Are Dental Cleanings?
Even if you are brushing and flossing your teeth perfectly at home, it is still beneficial to regularly visit us for a professional dental cleaning here at Life Dental & Orthodontics. Using state-of-the-art tools, a professional cleaning treats tartar and plaque that has built up while polishing your teeth for a brighter, healthier smile. During your cleaning, you can get tips on caring for your teeth at home and learn if there are certain areas that may need special care. A professional cleaning will give us the opportunity to check for any areas of concern in the mouth that might need treatment, such as periodontal disease. Having a dental cleaning is an important step in maintaining your oral health, so schedule appointments for your family at our Walnut Creek, CA office.
What Can I Expect During A Dental Cleaning?
A professional cleaning will start by removing the plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth, which can be difficult to remove at home, no matter how often you brush and floss. Professional tools are used to scale buildup without harming the tooth. To begin, an ultrasonic device addresses bigger areas of plaque and tartar with a lubricating mist and high-speed vibrations. Then, a fine handheld instrument (like a curette or scaler) will remove any remaining buildup. Every tooth will be scaled to get all the tartar and plaque. Once your teeth are clean, your enamel will be polished to remove stains. If requested or needed, a fluoride treatment will be completed after the cleaning. If any evidence of an oral condition, such as periodontal disease, is found, we will discuss all available treatment options with you to help bring you back to optimal dental wellness.

Dental Cleaning Reviews
Ive never wrote a review for a dentist appointment before but I felt compelled to share my experience at Life dental. I heard about them from a family friend so I decided to make a appointment for a cleaning. When I arrived the front desk girls greeted me immediately and made me feel at ease opposed to just business and info like other offices I experienced. Bille checked me in I didn't have to wait at all it was easy and pleasant. Rachel was my Hygienist and I have to say it was a breeze she made me feel comfortable she was nice and cleaned my teeth efficiently before I knew it I was done and out of there. Everyone I came across at the office was very nice and made me feel comfortable to be there. I will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.
As always, staff was extremely kind, friendly and efficient. Erin did great job cleaning my teeth!! Thank you to all!! 🌲🎅🤍

Best Candidates
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends people schedule professional dental cleanings twice per year. Children should have a visit to the dentist before they turn one and following that, Dr. Hockel can help you decide when your child is ready for their next appointment. A cleaning may help you avoid cavities because built-up plaque, the main reason for tooth decay, is removed. A cleaning will also address tartar and stains from the enamel. If you’d like to brighten your smile, freshen your breath, improve your oral health, and avoid spending money on more expensive treatments, schedule a dental cleaning at Life Dental & Orthodontics.
